Episode 7: Imagination

In this week’s blog, we will be diving into the Nomad Minute episode 7 entitled “Imagination.”

Your imagination is proof that you are both a work of art and an artist at work. It is the evidence that we are built for one thing above all: to create!

Deep down we are all artists, and our lives are our greatest work of art.

Through our lives we can create life, love, connection, invention, breakthrough, and hope. We are all conduits of creativity equipped with an imagination that gives us the ability to see the unseen.

However, you can’t talk about the imagination without talking about faith, facts, and fear. You see, faith is the the oxygen of the imagination. It drives that curious ability we all have to create something we’ve never known in vivid detail within the confines of our mind, and then make it real through the work of our lives.

It’s almost as if our heart gives us previews on the screen of our imagination of the life we were designed to live. We call these previews our dreams.

But if the imagination is so powerful, why don’t we see more people living out the things they imagine? Well, that’s another conversation, but the main killer of the imaginative power of our hearts is a clever little liar we all know called Doubt.

Doubt disguises itself by taking bits of our fears and wrapping them in the fabric of the facts. But here’s the problem: facts are limited to the reality of what is, while faith can bend the reality of what is and create what could be. This is why facts always sound rational and faith always sounds a bit crazy.

That means you – yes, you – armed with nothing more than some faith and some imagination, can literally bend reality. Just think about that for a second. You can literally redefine what the facts say are possible; what reality says is possible.

You come from a tattered past? Create something beautiful out of it. You aren’t educated enough? Imagine something you can’t live without and then become a lifelong learner of it. That is the fun thing about the imagination: it doesn’t care where you come from or how qualified you are. Give it permission and it will create the future.

Much like an artist, to the imagination there are no true mistakes. Even a giant blemish on the canvas can be transformed into a beautiful work of art, all you have to do is take on the right perspective, and the imagination takes care of the rest.

So when you’re creating something in your mind that you have yet to experience with your eyes, remember that the opposite of impossible isn’t possible – it’s unstoppable. When you learn to dream beyond what the facts say are possible, your life becomes an unstoppable force of creativity.
